    Traffic School Made Simple

We’ve collaborated with driver education professionals and learning theory experts to create a program that maximizes knowledge retention, engagement, and fun. The course includes several techniques that make learning easy and enjoyable, such as animated 3D video clips, interactive graphics, and easy-to-understand subject matter.

These materials are spread out through 8 chapters focusing on single subjects for easy learning and quick completion. Topics include:

    • Colorado Traffic Law
    • Defensive Driving Techniques
    • The Basics of Safe Driving
    • Common Road Signs

Each chapter ends with a multiple-choice quiz that pulls 10 easy questions right out of your lesson material. You must score 80% or higher to move on to the next chapter, but don’t sweat it too much – you have unlimited attempts to pass.

Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll take a 25-question, multiple-choice final exam. Like your end-of-chapter quizzes, you have unlimited chances to score 80% or better on your test – you’re practically guaranteed to pass.

  • How it Works

  • How to Take Traffic School Online in Colorado

The state of Colorado will automatically reduce points associated with a traffic ticket if you admit guilt and pay your traffic ticket on time, but that violation will remain on your record, leading to your insurance rates potentially going up. However, with the court’s permission you may be able to dismiss your traffic violation by completing a traffic school course, such as I Drive Safely’s Online Traffic School.

Whether you’re trying to dismiss a traffic violation or receive a potential auto insurance discount, we’ve compiled the detailed processes here for you to reference when the time comes.

How to Dismiss Your Traffic Ticket

How to Get a Reduction on Your Auto Insurance

How to Dismiss Your Traffic Ticket

    1. Contact your court and ask permission to attend Colorado traffic school.

On an individual basis, your court or judge may refer you to complete a traffic school in lieu of having a violation remain on your driving history. To do so, you may either:

    • Appear at the date specified on your citation.
    • Contact your court and ask about eligibility requirements and permission to dismiss a ticket.

Your court will specify whether your citation and driving history make you eligible for ticket dismissal.

    2. Enroll in and complete your I Drive Safely traffic school course.

Your court will likely give you a deadline by which you must submit your course completion to them, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to work through your course.

    3. Submit your completion certificate to your court.

I Drive Safely will send you a certificate of completion via email.

    4. Check your driving record.

It’s a good idea to follow up by checking your driving record. Your violation should not appear on your driving history.

How to Get a Reduction on Your Auto Insurance

    1. Contact your insurance provider and ask for discount details.

Each provider differs, but generally you will be eligible if you have a history of safe driving, and you have not taken an insurance discount course within the last year. Inquire about their discount rate, and how long the reduction would be in effect.

    2. Enroll in and complete your Colorado traffic school course.

    3. Submit your certificate of completion to your insurance company.

After we send your completion certificate, you may then deliver it to your insurance provider by whichever method you choose – fax, mail, or in person.

    4. Enjoy your reduced insurance rate!

    1. Are there any age restrictions on who can take Colorado traffic school online?

No, drivers may take this course no matter what their age is.

    1. How long will this course take?

Your Colorado driver improvement course is not timed, though generally students take between 4-6 hours to complete the course. Your course material is broken down into 8 single-subject units, which you can complete at your own pace. Therefore, how long the course takes is up to you!

    1. What types of things will I study?

Each of your 8 course chapters focuses on a single topic that pertains to Colorado driving and traffic laws. These topics include:

    • Highway safety
    • Alcohol- and drug-impaired driving
    • State traffic laws
    • Driving emergencies
    • Vehicle maintenance
    1. Do I have to take a final exam?

    1. What is the testing and grading policy?

Each of the 8 chapters contains a quiz that reviews important content from that chapter. There are 10 questions per quiz, and you need to obtain an 80% or higher to pass onto the next chapter. The quizzes will provide you with an excellent opportunity to master the course material and prepare for your final exam. You will be provided with feedback on any incorrect answers, and you may retake your quizzes an unlimited amount of times.

Once you get to your final exam, you will encounter 25 multiple-choice questions, requiring a passing score of 80% or higher. You may retake the exam again if you need another attempt to pass.

    1. How do you select the questions that I will be asked on a quiz?

Quiz questions are pulled randomly from a pool of questions developed specifically for your Colorado driving safety course. Two people may get entirely different questions for the same chapter quiz, simply because they are randomly selected. It’s the luck of the draw!

    1. Is there any way I can fail the course?

Absolutely not! You have unlimited retakes on your chapter quizzes and final exam, so if you fail to achieve a passing score on your first try, you may simply take it again.

    1. Is there a time limit to complete this course?

Deadlines are typically determined by the Colorado courts. While we allow you 180 days to complete your course before your account is suspended, the court may require you to finish your course much sooner than that. Make sure to determine your court’s deadline before beginning the course.

Regardless of court deadlines, you must complete the course within 180 days of registration. Any student who has not successfully completed the course within 180 days will be terminated without notice and will not be eligible for a refund.
