Getting Your Teen Oklahoma Drivers License Your Way
If you’re wondering how to get your license for the first time in Oklahoma, we’re here to help. The state requires you to be enrolled in an approved driver’s ed course before taking the required written exam that will allow you to apply for a learner’s permit. This is what gets you started toward earning your driver’s license! We have designed a course that is entirely online, so you can have fun fulfilling your requirements and work on it whenever it is convenient for you.
Types of Licenses in Oklahoma
There are 4 types of drivers licenses in the state of Oklahoma: A, B, C, and D. As a teen, the first-time drivers license you will be applying for is a Class D Intermediate drivers license. This type of license allows you to drive an automobile or passenger truck with certain restrictions.
Age Requirements
If you’re 15 years of age, you can start the Graduated Driver License (GDL) program by obtaining a learner’s permit. This requires the completion of a drivers education course (or for you to be currently enrolled) and successfully passing the written test.
All first-time drivers under the age of 18 are required to pass the written exam and hold their learner’s permit for a minimum of 6 months before they are eligible to take the driving test and apply for a driver’s license.
