This 8-hour course is approved in Virginia to dismiss your case and keep demerit points off your driving record. Only take this course if you are referred by a Virginia court.

Course Curriculum

What should you expect?

The Virginia Driver Improvement course contains text, videos, and animations aimed at helping you become a better driver in a way that's interesting and interactive. You'll learn traditional driving safety information, but also Virginia-specific rules and regulations like state speed limits and DUI/DWI laws. The course will take you about 8 hours to complete and contains 8 chapters, each outlining a different aspect of driving safety:

Introduction
Highway safety
The driver
Alcohol and drug impaired driving
Other driving impairments
Traffic laws
The driving environment
Driving emergencies
The vehicle

Each chapter will include a 10 question quiz which reviews important content from the chapter. You must pass each quiz with a score of 100 percent in order to proceed to the next chapter. You will be provided with feedback and taken back to the beginning of that section to review the material, and then you may re-attempt the quiz in order to proceed to the next section. The quizzes do not affect your final exam score.

You also must take and pass a final exam upon completion of the course. You must score 80 percent or higher on the final exam before your Certificate of Completion will be processed or mailed to you. If you score lower than 80 percent you must retake the final exam. The exam may only be attempted one time each day.

NOTE: This course is approved in Virginia. If a court requires you to complete a clinic, the court determines if you will be awarded safe driving points.
