Texas Driving Record Type AR
Why do I Need a Driving Record to Teach Parent-Taught Drivers Ed?
The parent-taught drivers ed course requires the parent-instructor to have a clean driving record. The DPS will examine the parent instructor's driving record and will refuse to issue the student a permit or license if they determine the parent does not meet this requirement. If this happens the student will need to start parent-taught drivers ed all over again with a parent that is eligible, or switch to an instructor-led course. Â
By knowing what is in your driving record you can avoid any nasty surprises before you start teaching parent-taught drivers ed.
